Pakistan to take part

LAHORE: The Pakistan hockey team will take part in the four nation tournament in India, Geo News reported.

The tournament will feature Pakistan, India, Argentina and New Zealand and will be played from September 19 to 26.

Meanwhile, the schedule for the first Asian Hockey Championships has been announced. The event will be played in Shanghai from September 3 to 11.

Pakistan will play Malaysia on September 3, China on 4, Japan on 6, Korea on 7 and India on 9.

Junior Hockey Camp from Wednesday

ISLAMABAD: The training camp of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) for junior probables to prepare them for five-Test match series against Egypt will commence from Wednesday at National Hockey Stadium, Lahore.

The series will be played from August 6-12 in Cairo, a PHF spokesman said.

The PHF has already announced 31 probables for the camp.

Following will be attending the camp: Mazhar Abbas, Muhammad Safian, Waseem Abbas, Usman Tanveer, Hafiz Rizwan Ali, Asad Bashir, Arslan Qadir, Muhammad Irfan, Sultan Aamir, Muhammad Sohaib, Zohaib Ashraf, Muhammad Suleman, Bilal Qadir, Khurram Shehzad, Ali Shan, Hassan Mansoor, Rizwan Junior, Muhammad Dilber, Mohammad Adnan Anwar, Aleem Bilal, Khalid Bhatti, Mushtaq, Kashif Javed, Usman Rafique, Umar Bhutta, Ahmad Zubair, Mohammad Bilal Khan, Abdul Karim, Muhammad Umair, Abdul Zohaib Khan and Tasawar Abbas.

The federation has also appointed panel of team officials comprising Rana Mujahid Ali as manager/chief coach, Danish Kaleem, Ahmed Alam and Anjum Saeed as coaches. While Dr. Asad Abbas Shah will be the team doctor.

Sara clinches title in Pizza Hut

KARACHI: Favourite Sara Ahmed tamed giant killer Hania Naveed, who defeated second seed Urooj Iltifat in semifinals, in the summit clash of women’s singles event in Pizza Hut Open Tennis Ranking Championship here Monday at Modern Club.

Sara Ahmed found little resistance from her final opponent Hania Naveed and recorded an immaculate 6-0, 6-0 triumph to secure the event’s title.

Sara Ahmed combined forces with Urooj Iltifat in women’s doubles event and also clinched this event’s title as well. The duo faced siblings Neha Khan and Wania Khan in the final and eventually recorded a convincing 6-2, 6-3 victory.

Meanwhile, Altaf Hussain and Rafiq Godil defeated Zafar Hasan and Azharuddin in the final of 45-plus doubles event by 6-2, 6-3 score.

In U15 final, Malik Hamza blanked Saud Shoaib registering a formidable 6-0, 6-0 win.

Wapda wins Quetta to Ziarat cycle race

LAHORE: Nisar Ahmed of Wapda won Quetta to Zirat cycle race on Monday covering the distance in three hours and 19 minutes and 50 seconds.

Pakistan cycling federation organised the challenging event which was participated by nearly 62 riders who covered the 122 kilometre distance.

Habib ullah from SSGC won the second place followed by Mohammad Ibrahim of Wapda. (APP)
